Andy proposed on Halloween. Though there wasn't an engagement ring, there were letters written to and from Father Michael Farrell in Apiro, Italy. Father Michael agreed to marry us in a small ceremony with family and a few friends in Italy in July 2010. There were two main events for our wedding - the ceremony in Italy and the reception/open house in Indianapolis. Italy was amazing and the reception was exactly what we wanted. |
|
Wedding: After communication with Father Michael Farrell in Apiro, Italy (Apiro is located in the Marche region) only through regular mail letters, it was wonderful to be able to meet him in person for our wedding celebration. Reception/open house: The reception/open house in Indianapolis also turned into a civil ceremony. For more details and pictures about both wedding and reception, check out our Wedding Album page. All of our wedding, honeymoon, and reception pictures can also be found here. |

Leading up to the wedding celebration... |
December 6, 2009 Our engagement pictures were taken and given to our parents. We have also been working on getting further details arranged including the engagement ring, wedding bands, dress (for Sarah), rental house in Italy, honeymoon plans, and caterer for the party in Indianapolis. Hopefully, the next post will be a picture of the custom-made engagement ring! |

December 19, 2009 The engagement ring has arrived (though the picture doesn't really do it justice)! It is a white gold three stone setting with one diamond from Andy's family, one diamond from Sarah's family, and one that we purchased. Mark Ellis at Kissed by Cupid was the jeweler we worked with and he was great! Mark is located in Chamber of Commerce building in downtown Indianapolis or on the web at www.kissedbycupid.com We have also confirmed the wedding date via a letter from Father Michael for Saturday, July 17, 2010. Sarah has met again with the seamstress who will be making the dress to check out the material. Andy received his wedding ring. Next on the agenda is to send out Save the Date cards! |
January 9, 2010 Save the Date cards have been sent out. We also had engagement announcements put in several newspapers - The Indianapolis Star, The Franklin Daily Journal, and The Southside Times. Both Andy and Sarah have purchased plane tickets to Italy. We are working on a tent, cake, and caterer for the party in Indianapolis. Also on the To Do List is finding a villa near Apiro in Italy and planning the honeymoon! |

January 17, 2010 We've found a villa in Italy! Il Drago is a house that sleeps 10 people with a pool that is only about 30 minutes from Apiro. They were willing to rent it to us from Monday to Monday. Sarah's mother's neighbor will be making the cake. The plan is for off white icing, red swirlies, strawberries, and a monogram cake topper. The cake will be both chocolate and vanilla confetti. Yum! We will be getting paper goods for the party soon and starting the process of registering. We are still working on a caterer, but leaning towards doing most ourselves... |
February 14, 2010 We've been busy with registering at BedBath and Beyond, Kohl's, and Walmart. We actually went to the stores and walked around with the scanner! However, we did finish the registries on the computer and can manage them online. Sarah's Valentine's Day present was her wedding band - a channel set in white gold with alternating rubies and diamonds. Matt Ellis at Sport Vision helped with this ring. Andy has purchased some new clothes for the wedding in Italy. We have a tent, table, and chairs rented for the reception. Father Michael has been in communication with us for details in Apiro. We're still working on plans for catering and will be planning for the honeymoon. |

April 2, 2010 Wow - time has been flying by... Only 4 more months until Italy! We've been trying to cross items off of the To Do List. We finished meeting with our sponsor couple, attended a Pre-Cana workshop, ordered invitations, and met with the cafeteria supervisor at Sarah's mom's school who will help with the catering. We are meeting with the priest in Indy and will be sending another letter to Father Michael in Italy to get some of the details determined including photographer, music, time, and all the paperwork. The details of the honeymoon still need to be planned, but we're looking forward to Venice and Florence! |
| May 4, 2010 It's hard to believe that it's already May! There's been a lot going on with wedding plans and selling Sarah's house! We listed the house for sale by owner and within three weeks had a buyer that was interested. Closing should be around the middle of May. So, we've been spending a lot of time packing, cleaning, and moving. The honeymoon has been planned with stops throughout Italy in Venice, Florence, Pisa, Modena, Bologna, and Rome. Now, we're working on transportation to the train stop and day trips the first week. |

June 10, 2010 We've been busy getting ready for the wedding that's just a little over a month away! The shower with friends and family went well and Sarah's work had a surprise shower too. Andy has headed to South Africa to watch the World Cup. Sarah is holding down the fort at home watching all of the animals and taking care of the rest of the details. After dealing with the seamstress's illness, the wedding dress will hopefully be finished next week and cake plans will be finalized as well. Father Michael sent an e-mail through a friend telling us a wedding time of 4:00pm on July 17. Invitations are going to be sent out this weekend. We'll also get directions to the villa, church, and honeymoon spots printed to take with us. Then, it'll be on to thinking about reception paper goods! |
July 5, 2010 It's getting close to our wedding day! Andy and Aaron are already in Rome and other family members are on their way in the next few days. Sarah leaves in less than a week for the plane ride to Rome, train ride to Fabriano, and car ride to the villa. It's set to be quite an adventure! Plans have also progressed for the reception. Invitations have been sent out and RSVPs have started coming in through this site. We've started to purchase some food items, will get paper goods in a few days, and have a To-Do List going for the few days before the party to celebrate. |
